Summer 2006
Philip finally loses his two front teeth!
Then he quickly loses a bottom tooth, so now eating corn on the cob is pretty difficult.
Philip enjoyed his first season of playing baseball. So much so that his dad had to buy
baseball equipment to keep up while practicing pitching for Philip's batting practice.
Here he is at Knox Park, getting a hit and running to first.
Philip and Rob took a day off early in summer vacation to go to downtown Chicago.
We walked from Union Station to Michigan Avenue, crossing the Chicago River, with
a tourboat passing by, in the process. We then went to the Aquarium but it was
packed because of free museum week, so then we went to the Adler Planetarium.
Philip has his picture taken by the large sundial with downtown Chicago in the
background. On the way back, the sun was hitting the Picasso statue nicely, so
Philip took this picture of Rob in the largely deserted square.
Bob Neff was given the rare privilege? of being crowned King Ole for Hendricks, MN. This is
an award given for community service (certainly not for being of Norwegian descent, since
Dad is definitely 100% German, more specifically, German-from-Russia). Those are donuts
someone unceremoniously put on his horns. With him is Queen Lena, Julia Hoagie.
Memorial Weekend 2006
The Neff familys went camping at Frontenac on the Mississippi River bluffs near Red Wing.
A picture of the seven grandkids, and our family with Grandma and Grandpa. Finally, a group
shot of the clan, first time in a couple years we were all together.
See Rob's new 2006 Prius in QuickTime (.mov) format:

If you need QuickTime for Windows, download
QuickTime 7 standalone
(without iTunes), you probably want to uncheck the message boxes.
The Prius is a gas-electric hybrid, with 75HP gasoline engine, and 1.3 KW battery supplying
a 65 HP electric motor that can run simultaneously with or separately from the gas engine.
So far I'm getting an average mileage in the low 40's, but that's with a lot of short trips
(my commute is 7.5 miles, and then a couple trips around town) in cold weather. I bought it
with 3 miles on the odometer, as of the end of February it has about 130 miles.
Update: end of October it has 6800 miles on the odometer, and lifetime average of 49 mpg.
I fill up with gas every 3 or 4 weeks, whether I need to or not.
