Summer 2003

Some scenes of downtown Chicago. We were showing Anton, a friend from out-of-town (Bulgaria, by way of the Twin Cities) the sights.

Philip learns how to play T-Ball at school (day-care). Over Labor Day weekend we took a trip to downtown Chicago, particularly the Sears Tower. Here Philip looks out a window from the top of the Sears Tower, over 100 floors above the ground.

Philip and Toni pose for the camera. Philip goes for a walk with his cousin Stoil on a trail at a historic farmstead in the Chicagoland area.

Early 2003

Philip and Rob go sliding in the backyard of Sandy's house in upstate New York. Chicago got about 15" snow all year, they still had at least 15" of snowcover (some valleys had over 3 feet of snow on the ground). More pictures in the cousins section. Philip gives Grandpa a high-5 (takes a big windup!)

Philip's on TV! Programs run heavy on weather forecasts and commercials for some reason, but one of the buttons underneath is to turn off commercials! Philip drives his cousin's tractor out in a rare snowfall, to clear the driveway.

Philip has his 4th birthday party with plenty of people over for the holiday. Now he's getting a little more camera-savvy.

Christmas/Birthdays, 2002

Philip's green tongue, and a few of the people over for his 4th Birthday

Relatives gathered at our house to play cards for Christmas, 2002! Shown is Uncle Ken, Dad, Kristen, (Mom not shown in front of window), Kevin, Carol and K.T. Notice the two unfinished leaves for the table.

The Christmas-Eve-morning gathering, for the Bulgarian kids to exchange presents.

Philip can write his name! As long as you don't get hung up on details, like order of letters..., and here's his first drawing of a person. Both were done early-to-mid Oct, 2002.

Philip and his Grandma camping in N. Wisconsin, visiting a small waterfall. We (Toni and Rob) are in our living room, with the refinished table that Mom & Dad refinished for us (some people don't like tables painted bright blue), with the 1920's honky-tonk piano in the background. Late summer, 2002

Toni has been working on removing wallpaper and repainting several rooms, including the guest bedroom, the family room (pictured) and now the dining room. Previously, from the breakfast nook, you could see three different styles of wallpaper. Outside Rob has been planting native plants and trees, here Philip is helping water the plum (he feels it's best to water the top of the tree).
