Snow Images

Our house in Hoffman Estates, under the second biggest snowfall in Chicago's recorded history. This was the scene shortly after Philip was born - almost all of this snow was from the two-day storm, and Mom shoveled a good deal of it. We had to time his return from the hospital to when the snowplow had cleared our street. I think this was the day after he came home, in Jan. 1999.

Here I am digging in the snow at Northome, Minnesota on Easter, 1996 (April). Jack claimed the snow in this ditch was over 10 feet deep, but I only went about 7 feet before hitting grass. It was hard-packed snow though.

Taking a break while snowshoeing near Lowville, NY, Christmas 1995.

And now I'm combining a couple hobbies: video-taping, barefoot, and in the snow all at once!

March 26, 1989 - this is what it looks like - I am standing straight up in the snow. (Okay, this is mostly snow that slid off the roof lately, but still it is almost April). This day got up to 63'F, the warmest temperature since the previous Oct. 15.

Ah, the old Volksies! The one on the left (in case you can't tell) is the 1968 blue Glitterbug, and the one on the right is a red '65.

Here we are going to the store for supplies...just kidding! This was taken about 3 miles from my house at Shooks MN, but it was a sleddog race, with mushers from places like Montana, Ontario and Michigan competing. It was a cold day with a very brisk wind as I recall, probably below zero again, and that's before the windchill. Not many spectators for some reason.
